These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to the Paint Calculator mobile application (“App”) published by Matthew Chapman (“we,” “us”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
The App
Paint Calculator estimates finish paint and primer from room dimensions, openings, coats, and coverage you enter. Buy amounts are rounded up to whole gallons. Optional moulding uses room perimeter times moulding width.
Estimates only
The App is an estimating tool. Results are not a guarantee of how much paint you will use. Coverage depends on the paint, surface texture, color change, application method, and waste. Typical finish coverage in the App is 350 sq ft per gallon and primer is 250 sq ft per gallon; check the can and adjust. Two finish coats is a common job; set primer coats to 0 if you are not priming.
Always confirm quantities with the paint manufacturer’s label and your supplier before you buy. We are not responsible for extra trips to the store, leftover paint, or jobs that use more or less product than the estimate.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store terms. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or redistribute the App except as Apple’s rules allow.
Ads and other apps
The App is free and supported by ads, including ads from Google AdMob and occasional promotions for other apps we publish. Ads are not recommendations of any paint brand or retailer. See the privacy policy for how advertising data is handled.
Apple
If you downloaded the App from the App Store, Apple Inc. and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. Apple is not responsible for the App or these Terms. Your use of the App Store is also governed by Apple’s terms.
Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that estimates will match the paint you actually use.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for the cost of substitute paint or labor, arising from use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim (which is zero if you use the free, ad-supported App).
Changes
We may update the App and these Terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we revise this page.
